In addition to the salary, they will be eligible to receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and other allowances applicable to Central Government employees stationed in Kolkata, as well as other benefits approved in accordance with the Institute’s rules and regulations. Employees of the Institute shall be covered under the ‘National Pension System’ (NPS) with effect from January 1, 2004.

1.  For the purpose of calculating age, only the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation or Secondary Examination Certificate will be considered. The minimum age limit for all posts shall be 18 years. The maximum age limit specified in the advertisement applies only to unreserved vacancies. For specific age-related concessions or relaxations applicable to candidates belonging to various categories, please refer to the instructions regarding ‘Concessions & Relaxations’ listed under Serial No. 5 below.

2.  All applicants must fulfill the essential qualifications prescribed for the post, as well as other terms and conditions stipulated in the advertisement. Prior to applying, candidates are advised to ensure that they possess the requisite educational qualifications obtained from a recognized Board/Council/University/Institute, along with the necessary work experience relevant to the job description/requirements specified against the post. No interim queries of any kind will be entertained. Only work experience acquired *after* obtaining the prescribed minimum educational qualification—and relevant to the job description/requirements—will be taken into consideration.

The prescribed essential educational qualifications and work experience constitute merely the minimum criteria; possession of these qualifications alone does not entitle a candidate to be called for the selection examination. Should the number of applicants be excessively high, the Institute may establish specific ‘shortlisting’ criteria to limit the number of candidates called for the selection examination to a reasonable level. This selection process will be conducted based on educational qualifications and relevant experience that are superior to those specified in the advertisement.

3. In the application form, candidates should provide details of only their *completed* educational qualifications; details regarding any courses currently being pursued or in progress must not be provided. The educational qualifications acquired by candidates must correspond exactly to the qualifications prescribed for the position.

If a candidate claims to possess a qualification equivalent to those specified in the advertisement, they must submit the necessary supporting documents or evidence along with their application form. Otherwise, such applications will be deemed invalid. When filling out the column regarding the percentage of marks—if grades or CGPA are applicable in your case—please specify the equivalent conversion formula prescribed by your Board/Institution/University.

4.  When filling out the duration of your current employment, if you are still serving in the same position—or are expected to continue doing so—please enter the current date in the “to date” column. Total experience will be calculated based on the information provided in the filled rows. Please ensure that the periods of employment experience are not listed in a disjointed or overlapping manner.

The employment experience certificate must be in the proper format; that is, it must clearly specify the individual’s designation, the duration of service at the specific institution, the nature of duties or job profile, and the salary received. Employment experience certificates must be printed on the respective institution’s official letterhead and must bear the date of issuance. Pay slips, office orders, appointment letters, or any other such documents will not be accepted as proof of employment experience.

5.  Essential qualifications, relevant work experience, and all other eligibility criteria shall be reckoned as of the closing date for applications (cut-off date) for the respective posts; even if the last date for submission of applications is extended for any reason, this cut-off date shall remain unchanged.
6. Reservation and Relaxations:

7.  Reservation
Reservation for OBC-NCL/EWS candidates shall be in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Government of India.
For OBC Candidates:

a) Candidates applying under the OBC-NCL category must submit a valid Caste Certificate issued by a competent authority. This certificate must be in the format prescribed by the DoPT (Annexure-II) and must be accompanied by a self-declaration in the format prescribed in this advertisement (Annexure-III).

b) The eligibility of an OBC-NCL candidate shall be determined based on the caste(s) included in the Central List of the Government of India.

c) The notification for these vacancies has been issued for the financial year 2026-2027; therefore, only valid NCL-OBC certificates issued on or after 01.04.2025 shall be considered valid. Applications submitted by candidates furnishing NCL-OBC certificates issued prior to this period (i.e., prior to 01.04.2025) shall not be considered valid for the purpose of this advertisement. Consequently, OBC candidates must ensure that they submit a valid OBC certificate.

d) OBC candidates must not belong to the ‘Creamy Layer’ as on the stipulated crucial date; otherwise, their candidature for the OBC post shall not be considered.
For EWS Candidates:

e) Applications under the EWS category shall be considered only upon the submission of an ‘Income and Assets Certificate’ in the prescribed format, issued by a competent authority. Therefore, EWS candidates must ensure that they possess a valid EWS certificate which—in accordance with DoPT Memorandum No. 36039/1/2019-Estt (Res) dated 31.01.2019—specifies the total income derived from all sources during the financial year immediately preceding the year of application.

f) Candidates who fail to submit a valid EWS certificate shall not be considered for reservation under this category. c) As per DoPT Office Memorandum (OM) No. 36039/1/2019-Estt (Res) dated 31.01.2019, the crucial date for the submission of Income and Asset Certificates by candidates is the closing date for the receipt of applications for the said post. Therefore, EWS candidates must ensure that they submit a valid EWS certificate in the prescribed DoPT format (provided in Annexure-IV of this notification); this certificate must be issued for the financial year 2026-27, based on the income of the financial year 2025-26.

Age Relaxations

In the case of direct recruitment to Group C and Group B posts, age relaxation in the upper age limit for departmental candidates shall be applicable up to 40 years of age and up to 5 years, respectively. This concession is admissible only to those departmental candidates who are currently serving in posts belonging to the same line of work or a related cadre, and where it can be established that the service already rendered in their current posts will be helpful in efficiently discharging the duties of the proposed new post.

In this context, age relaxation for departmental candidates shall be considered only for ’employees of IACS Kolkata and other institutions under the administrative control of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.’ For serving Government employees, age relaxation shall be applicable in accordance with the rules prescribed by the Government of India. Provided, however, that they must submit a certificate issued by the Competent Authority, prepared in the prescribed format set forth in Annexure-I of this notification.

For the purpose of claiming OBC-NCL/EWS or similar status, reservation, age relaxation, or any other benefits, the cut-off date shall be the closing date for the receipt of applications. No age relaxation of any kind shall be granted to applicants belonging to reserved categories applying against unreserved posts.

9. As of the date of submitting the application, no vigilance, departmental, or criminal proceedings shall be pending or under consideration against the candidate; similarly, from the date of application submission until the time of joining the service (in the event of selection), no such proceedings shall be initiated or remain under consideration against the candidate.

11.
